At the beginning of spring when I first spied the little rosette of spikey leaves I thought to myself ahh... a thistle.. I must dig it up.

But time went by, and weeks later what had been a small plant grew into a huge shoulder height thistle...

This was when I realised it would be a magnet for wildlife and would be great to photograph throughout the year.
